The Graduate School has two key objectives:

A. Professional development of HORTINLEA researchers

  • Support and mentoring of young researchers by supervisors from German and/or partner institutions
  • Annual HORTINLEA Summer School (first summer school in September 2014 in Kenya)
  • Support for specific professional courses (course fees and travel of individuals)

B. Networking & infrastructure for sustainable research cooperation

  • Establishment of an internet platform to share methods and technical equipment across HORTINLEA subprojects
  • Organisation of annual stakeholder meetings
  • Logistical support for organisation of field days in the different subprojects
  • Financial and logistical support for researchers' participation in conferences and other scientific fora.
  • Development of an alumni network
